Motorcycle Suspension Simulation
posted by: Brett Longhurst | category : | comments : Comments Off
In this example, stresses in the rear swingarm of a motorcycle suspension were analysed when subjected to a variety of road load events.
Rather than assuming loads and performing a static stress analysis, various road surfaces and obstacles were modelled, and an MBD model of the motorcycle was driven over these obstacles to accurately reflect the dynamic loading on the suspension system.
The swingarm was modelled as a flexible body so stresses within the part could be calculated right throughout the suspension travel.
